The Guide to Maintaining Healthy Relationships During COVID-19
Social interaction is an important part of life. During COVID-19, it has made it especially challenging to get the regular social interaction that we need to boost our emotional and physical health. Staying home and distancing ourselves from the ones who are close to us is important to help the spread of the virus. So how can you stay safe but still feel balanced? Here are some ways to help.
1. Socialize From a Distance
If you are going to see anyone in person, make sure to wear a mask, and maintain a social distance of at least six feet. Practicing these rules minimizes your risk of contracting COVID-19, and it allows you to get the social interaction that you have been wanting. When you socialize from a distance, you can always get creative. Have a socially distanced picnic where everyone brings their own food, play games while sitting apart.
2. Surround Yourself With Positive People
To improve your mental health, it is important to interact with people that have a positive outlook on life and can make you feel good. It is great to reminisce about memories and have people in your life that can make you smile and laugh. You know what they say, “laughter makes you live longer.”
3. Keep in Touch With Friends and Family
Even though you may not be able to see your family and friends in person, there are many outlets to allow you to stay connected regularly. You can text, call, or video chat with those you care about. It is the next best thing to being in person with someone. This is an especially great tactic if your friends or family live out of the state or country.
