5 Self-Care Tips
As COVID-19 continues to take a toll on the physical and mental health of the world, it is crucial that you take the time to give back to yourself. If you are looking for some support, here are some tips to help.
1. Give Yourself Time to Rest and Reflect
Taking time for yourself is crucial, especially as we spend more time at home. Having alone time allows you to think about what is important to you, what goals you want to achieve, and it allows you to brainstorm how you want to take action. Sometimes we get caught up in dealing with the everyday tasks, and we do not make the effort to give ourselves the time we need to recharge.
2. Express Emotion
When times get tough, some people tend to hold in their emotions. Although it may seem easier to hold in your emotions, it is better to share how you are feeling. By doing so, you may realize that you are not alone in the way you are feeling. It also allows you to release the stress and tension that you have built up.
3. Take it Day By Day
You can only do so much about the situation at hand. The best way to get through challenging times is by taking it one step at a time. Every day is a new day; you will get stronger and find more clarity. It can be overwhelming if you try to tackle everything all at one time.
4. Set an Information Cap
You know what they say, “what you don’t know can’t hurt you.” This is true in some situations but not all. It is great to be knowledgeable about what is going on in the world by staying up to date with the news, reading and discussing the issues at hand with others. However, overexposing yourself to this information can take a toll on your mental health. If you do decide to watch the news, limit yourself to a certain amount of time, or break it up and do other activities in between.
5. Get Support From Loved Ones
There is nothing more powerful than having the ones you care about by your side. They have your best interest in mind and want to help you get through anything that is troubling you.
