Coronavirus in Orange County: A Different Curve
The past many weeks have tested our country’s resilience. The COVID-19 climate has kept us indoors, and we have been following CDC guidelines for patient care.
By following the orders set forth by health officials and the government, California has seen a much different outcome so far as to what has occurred in other states like New York.
To this point, we have not seen a sharp peak in cases or deaths. While we are ensuring proper precautions to protect our physical health, we need to care for our mental health too here in Orange County.
Avoid misinformation
Coronavirus news is everywhere. It’s on TV, in the newspapers, and it’s most certainly online. Our social media platforms, where we used to find out about friends and family, are now flooded by the news. What can you trust? Be careful of shared stories online that may not be backed by credible sources. In America, the CDC is the official department issuing guidelines, and globally the World Health Organization (WHO) is measuring the global impact.
As we’ve mentioned, up to this point, Orange County has kept the curve nearly flat by taking aggressive social distancing approaches several weeks ago
You likely have family and friends across the country; It’s understandable you want to watch this situation unfold out of concern for those loved ones. Take caution as you read shared stories that may not come from the proper medical authorities.
Local Health Leadership
In Orange County, the OC Health Dept. is distributing daily information. As of April 9th, there were almost 1,100 cumulative cases and 17 deaths.
Over the last two weeks, we have been averaging about 60 new cases per day.
