Quarantine: The Guide to a Healthy Lifestyle
COVID-19 has forced us to change the way we live permanently. From gyms being closed to having to do more activities from home, we have all had to make adjustments to our daily routines. Here are some ways to help you get back into a normal, healthier routine.
1.Create a Sense of Normalcy
With the lack of structure, it has made it difficult to keep track of the day and time of the week. Set up a daily wake up time and bed time to keep a consistent routine.
In addition to designating scheduled times, make the extra effort to dress up every day even if you don’t have anywhere to go. By doing so, it will make your day feel more normal, and it will improve your overall productivity.
2. Be Mindful of Your Eating
Take the time to plan well balanced meals for yourself, and make sure to drink a glass of water every time you eat. By utilizing this tip, you will feel more full and will help you cut back on your meals. In addition, try to control your portions, and eat your proteins first. This will help you reduce the amount of carbohydrates you eat. Too many carbohydrates can cause swings in blood sugar and leave you feeling like you have less control over your hunger.
3. Get Back Into Exercising
Regular exercise is beneficial to your health. If social distancing keeps you from going to your gym or your usual exercise classes, try other forms of activity, such as hiking or an online workout class. By taking the time to exercise, it will reduce weight gain and will make you feel healthier overall.
4. Make Sure to Get Adequate Sleep
Getting a good night’s rest of seven or more hours a night will help you boost your mood and make you feel more motivated to tackle your day. There is a lot of evidence that people who don’t get enough sleep are more likely to be overweight or obese.
5. Manage Your Stress
People handle stress in many different ways whether it be alone or with others by their side. Reduce your stress by taking long walks, meditating, doing yoga, and practicing mindfulness.
